The Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center is part of the Scripps Clinic Division of Neurology. It is designed to deliver the comprehensive care patients with movement disorders need to improve the quality of their lives. Our compassionate medical team, collaborative environment and commitment to finding innovative treatments through research make that high level of care possible.
The center offers a wide range of services at one location. Patients who are treated at our office on the Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines campus will have access to a laboratory; a full-service pharmacy; digital imaging; urgent care; occupational, physical and speech therapists; and a dietician. Other medical, surgical and support services include:
- Botulinum injections
- Complementary therapies and healing practices
- Clinical trials and research
- Deep brain stimulation (DBS)
- F-DOPA, FDG, PET, and SPECT scanning
- Group support
- Patient education classes
- Physical, occupational and speech therapy
- Specialized surgery
At your initial consultation, your doctor will discuss a personally tailored program that will maximize your treatment.
Some movement disorders such as essential tremor, Parkinson’s disease, and sometimes dystonia can be successfully treated with specialized neurosurgery. After your evaluation, your neurologist will be able to tell you what is available, and whether you might be a candidate for such surgery.
