September is National Atrial Fibrillation Awareness Month. Atrial fibrillation (AFib) is a type of irregular heart rhythm that usually develops in people over age 60, but younger people can also develop afib.
On Sept. 8, Scripps electrophysiologist Dr. Steven Higgins participated in a Twitter chat hosted by EverydayHealth.com. Dr. Higgins, along with other nationally-known afib experts, shared tips on how to identify symptoms of afib, addressed the health risks and treatment options, and provided strategies for adopting positive lifestyle changes.
