San Diego Family magazine reports how music is the tie that binds

In the October issue of San Diego Family magazine, Sara Megling of San Diego describes how she and fellow ukulele player Lorraine Whaley helped comfort their friend Anastasia Berkheimer as she underwent breast cancer treatment earlier this year. The trio celebrated the completion of treatment with a special ukulele concert at the Scripps Proton Therapy Center.
The precision of proton therapy enabled doctors to irradiate the tumor on Anastasia’s left breast without affecting her heart. Anastasia has a heart condition, so the accuracy of her treatment was especially important to her.
