The 48th annual Scripps Clinic Invitational will be held Sept. 9 at Torrey Pines Golf Course. A special celebration will take place Sept. 10, to mark the opening of the newest Scripps Clinic location, the John R. Anderson V Medical Pavilion on the campus of Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.
The invitational golf tournament begins Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the Torrey Pines South Golf Course, 11480 North Torrey Pines Road, and will be followed by an awards reception at 5 p.m. at The Lodge at Torrey Pines.
The tournament will set the stage for the celebration on Saturday to mark the recent opening of the medical pavilion. The event will take place on the campus of Scripps La Jolla beginning at 6 p.m., and will feature a cocktail reception, culinary stations with a variety of wines and cuisine, silent and live auctions, live entertainment and dancing.
The newest Scripps Clinic facility offers outpatient clinical services in a variety of medical and surgical specialties, including cardiology, neurology, diabetes and endrocronology, gastroenterology, dermatology, nephrology and family medicine. It is one of only two clinics in California operating full-service outpatient catheterization laboratories outside a hospital. The building is connected by bridge to the Prebys Cardiovascular Institute.
The seven-level, 175,000-square-foot building was constructed with help of a $25 million donation from Eileen and John “Jack” Anderson IV. The clinic is named for their son.
