What you need to know about our service charges

What you need to know about our service charges

Scripps Health is committed to being transparent about our charges.

A customized billing estimate offers a great way to prepare for paying your medical bills. Scripps has provided options to help you estimate your costs using our price estimator tool prior to receiving care.

Additionally, Scripps has made available machine-readable files. These files include gross charges, payer-specific negotiated charges, discounted cash prices, and minimum and maximum negotiated charges for inpatient and outpatient care in a hospital setting for each of our sites (updated 12/21/2023):

Please note that the standard charges published on this website represent the pricing information for medical items and services that we are displaying in response to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Hospital Price Transparency Rule. The display of pricing information under this rule does not necessarily reflect your out-of-pocket financial responsibility for your hospital visit for several reasons, including but not limited to the following. The information reflects prices paid by your insurer for services provided during your hospital visit, which will not necessarily reflect your share of the costs of these services under the particular terms of your health plan. In addition, the actual medical items and services that are furnished to you during your visit may vary from what is anticipated in your initial plan of care. You may also receive services from physicians or practitioners who are not employed by this hospital; the price for services from these professionals would not be reflected in these listings.

Our price estimator tool and machine-readable files do not guarantee coverage, benefits, or payments. Your financial liability may vary based on the particular terms of your insurance policy and the status of your health insurance benefits (i.e., deductibles, out-of-pocket maximum, co-insurance, and copays) at the time you receive care. Your eligibility and the amount of your coverage is ultimately determined by your health insurance provider.
