What is MyScripps?

MyScripps is a secure online health care portal that provides you with digital access to your personal health information. With MyScripps, you have access to the tools you need to manage your care anytime, anywhere, including:

 

  • Managing your appointments
  • Communicating securely with your care team
  • Accessing your medical history
  • Viewing lab and test results
  • Paying your copays and bills online
  • Designating a health care proxy for a loved one

Is there a cost to use MyScripps?

No. MyScripps is a complimentary service offered to all Scripps patients.


How do I enroll in MyScripps?

Users of the patient portal used until March 31 will not be automatically converted to the new portal. To enroll, you need to get an activation code, which you can request at your next clinic visit or online through the MyScripps health portal. To request your activation code online, go to MyScripps and click on the “SIGN UP NOW” button. On the next page, click on the “SELF SIGN UP” button, and complete the form. You’ll receive your activation code via email in 2-3 business days. Once you have your activation code, go to MyScripps and click on the “SIGN UP NOW” button. Enter the activation code and follow the enrollment instructions to activate your new account. 


How can I access MyScripps on my smartphone or tablet?

If you have an Apple IOS or Android device, you can download and install a free MyChart app. Once downloaded, select Scripps Health as your provider and enter your MyScripps ID and password. You must already have an active MyScripps account in order to use the smartphone apps. Visit the iPhone app store or Android Market to get started.


Can I manage my appointments through MyScripps?

You can schedule family practice and internal medicine appointments, receive appointment reminders or cancel appointments. You can also view details of your upcoming appointments.


Can I see my lab results in MyScripps?

Yes. You can view your results and your doctor’s comments within days.


Where is my past medical information?

Certain medical information from the past three years will be available in your MyScripps account. To request information not available in the portal, please contact Health Information.


If my medical information is incorrect in MyScripps, what should I do?

Contact your doctor’s office with any questions or concerns regarding your medical information.


Does my online health record include records from non-Scripps Health providers?

Your available online health record only reflects services you have received as a Scripps patient.


Can I pay my medical bills through MyScripps?

You can access and pay your Scripps Green Hospital, Scripps Clinic and Scripps Coastal Medical Center copays and bills through the MyScripps health portal.


Can I message my Scripps doctor through MyScripps?

Yes. Once you’re logged into the portal, click on the “Messaging” tab at the top of the page and select “Send a Message” from the drop-down menu. Select the option that best matches your medical question. Choose the recipient and subject from the drop-down menus provided and type in your question. You can also attach an image or video from your computer or mobile device.


Why is my doctor not included on the list of recipients?

The “Send a Message” feature enables you to send a secure message regarding a non-urgent medical concern to established Scripps providers, or those you’ve seen within the last 15 months. 


If I message my doctor’s office, when should I expect a reply?

When messaging your doctor’s office via MyScripps, you can expect a response within 2-3 business days. If you need an immediate response, please call your doctor’s office directly.


Can I view a family member’s health record in MyScripps?

Yes. This is called proxy access. As a health care proxy, you will be granted access to the MyScripps account of your child or adult patient, which will let you view their personal health information and act on their behalf to manage appointments, message care providers, and view test and lab results. Proxy access may be requested at your doctor’s office. Patient privacy and confidentiality are important to Scripps. To protect all of our patients, minors between the ages of 12 to 18 do not have access to the portal. In accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), minors 12 years or older are legally entitled to confidential medical care. Parents with minors may enroll their child and manage their account within the portal until the child’s 12th birthday, when the minor’s account will be suspended. Adults may enroll in the portal and maintain their own account starting at the age of 18. For consenting adults or adults with diminished capacity, those requesting access to another adult patient’s account may need to provide the necessary supporting documentation before access is granted.


How is medical information in MyScripps secured?

Patient privacy and security is our number one priority. All data exchanged is encrypted at the highest level and safeguarded throughout the entire process. Once you are enrolled, MyScripps’ secure login enables you to connect and authenticate using credentials established during enrollment. Your access is secured using a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificate.
