Ayemoethu "Moe" Ma, MD, is a specialist in breast surgery and integrative medicine and has clinical interests in nipple-sparing mastectomy, oncoplastic breast surgery and minimally invasive breast procedures.
Dr. Ma has been practicing medicine since 2001. She believes in constantly improving every patient’s experience and quality of care, while offering patients the most advanced treatment options available and incorporating innovative techniques and technologies into breast care.
Outside of her clinical practice, Dr. Ma has a special research interest in the treatment of advanced breast cancers, the timing of breast surgery to improve survival and criteria to avoid unnecessary surgery. She has received recognition for her previous research work, which has been published in the World Journal of Surgical Oncology, The Breast Journal of Surgery, The American Journal of Surgery and The Breast Journal.
The recipient of numerous awards, Dr. Ma was elected by her peers as one of the best doctors in New York and also received the Humanism award from the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the Arnold P. Gold Foundation.
Dr. Ma is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology. She currently serves on the Patient Safety and Quality Committee for the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
In her time away from the operating room, Dr. Ma can be found exploring San Diego and spending time at Del Mar beach with her dog, Danny. She regularly travels around the world on medical missions, including to her native Myanmar.
