Biography

Dr. Alexandra Bunyak was born in Yalta (former USSR) and immigrated to the United States when she was 9 years old. She lived in New York and Pennsylvania prior to leaving for Yale University to study fine arts (painting) while completing her pre-medical requirements.


During this time she became involved in Shotokan karate and has studied martial arts since, competing as part of the national ISKF team and pursuing a personal mind/body/spirit practice.


She attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania and was awarded an opportunity to spend a year at the National Institutes of Health pursuing nerve cell regeneration research. She chose to specialize in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago to expand her knowledge of sports medicine and non-surgical orthopedics, and pursued special study in the fields of:


  • Geriatric musculoskeletal health
  • Women’s health
  • Women’s sports medicine
  • Pelvic health
  • Peri-natal neuromusculoskeletal conditions


Dr. Bunyak practices integrative medicine to offer her patients the widest range of evidence-based options in musculoskeletal diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.
