Captain Cynthia R. Davis, MD, served 27 years with the United States Navy, 16 years on active duty and 11 years with the Reserves, retiring in 2004. Since leaving active duty in 1995, she has been in private practice in Solana Beach. She has served as Chief of Otolaryngology at both Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas.
Dr. Davis practices all aspects of medical and surgical otolaryngology, treating both adults and children. She has special clinical interests in rhinology (disorders of the nose and sinuses) and allergy (including allergy testing and allergy desensitization).

Rhinology
Sinus disorders, endoscopic sinus surgery, surgical correction of deviated septum and nosebleeds: Treatments associated with stuffy nose, loss of smell.
Allergy
Treatment by medication, immunotherapy (allergy shots or sublingual drops), avoidance of pollen, dust, mold, food and other sensitivities, hay fever, chronic sinusitis, laryngitis, sore throat, dizziness and middle ear infections.
Laryngology
Disorders of the throat, including voice and swallowing problems: Sore throat, hoarseness, swallowing disorders, and gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD).
Head and neck surgery
Cancerous and noncancerous tumors in the head and neck, thyroid, salivary glands and voice box.
Pediatric otolaryngology
Ear infections, tonsil and adenoid infections, allergy and sinus disease.
Otology
Diseases of the ear, including trauma, hearing and balance disorders, swimmer’s ear, dizziness and ringing in the ears (tinnitus).
