Michael P. Kosty, MD, is a hematologist and oncologist with expertise in melanoma, lung and prostate cancer. In addition to his clinical practice, he actively participates in research on melanoma, lung cancer and prostate cancer, including research on managing symptoms of the disease and new ways of optimally delivering care. Through this continuing research and input from his patients, he is able to provide access to clinical trials as part of an individualized cancer treatment plan.
Dr. Kosty believes that cancer care is a team effort, with the patient at the center. As part of a multidisciplinary cancer care team, he ensures constant, open communication between the patient and all members of their health care team.
Throughout his career, he has been the recipient of multiple awards and accolades, including being named as one of the Best Doctors in America and a Top Doctor by San Diego Magazine. He was also elected as a fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American College of Physicians, and is an active member of the American Society of Hematology.
Dr. Kosty runs the graduate medical education programs at Scripps Clinic and Scripps Green Hospital and is the medical director of the Scripps Green Cancer Center.
In his spare time, he enjoys walking on the beach, trying new restaurants, and expanding and tasting his ever growing wine collection.
