Medicare Advantage Coverage at Scripps

Scripps Clinic and Scripps Coastal will no longer accept individual Medicare Advantage HMO plans as of January 1, 2024.


Also, Scripps Clinic and Scripps Coastal are not in-network for new enrollees in individual Medicare Advantage PPO plans as of January 1, 2024.

We understand the challenges and concerns that these changes have caused. Making the right insurance choice can be difficult and is an important decision. To support you in your decision making, our goal is to direct you to the most accurate information possible.


The Annual Election Period for 2024 Medicare benefits is October 15 - December 7, 2023.


It is very important that you understand your benefits and out-of-pocket cost share if you decide to continue to see your Scripps Clinic and Scripps Coastal providers in 2024.


Medicare Advantage PPO retiree plans may be accepted.


Medicare Advantage PPO OON benefits may apply for some health plans.


Due to the complexity of those benefits, you should contact your insurance plan for details.


Scripps Clinic and Scripps Coastal physicians will continue to accept original Medicare (Part A and Part B) including Medicare Supplemental products (Medigap). 


Your Medicare Advantage HMO plan may continue to be accepted by doctors in other medical groups affiliated with Scripps allowing you to receive care at Scripps hospitals.
