Groups for Older Adults
Aging involves both positive growth and unique life changes. Often people think poor eating habits, withdrawal from everyday activities or disorientation are a part of the aging process, but in reality, these and other behaviors — including aggression and isolation — may signal an underlying psychiatric condition requiring professional intervention and treatment.
Scripps Health Services has specialized senior groups designed to help older adults and their families cope with the challenges of aging. Our interdisciplinary team of health care professionals specializes in geriatrics and offers compassionate counseling and treatment in a supportive environment.
Individualized, comprehensive treatment plans focus on each patient’s needs with the goal of successful, independent living and psychological stability. Group highlights include:
- Multidisciplinary treatment team approach
- Specialized group curriculum
- Individualized treatment planning
- Daily mental status check-in
- Grief, loss and change of life issues
- Pain management
- Medication education
- Coordination of care with outside resources
