Minimally Invasive Interventional Heart Care
Scripps Health has continually been at the forefront in minimally invasive treatment options for cardiovascular care. Scripps was the first health system in the U.S. to use minimally invasive tools to remove plaque from coronary arteries and the first to have a noninvasive peripheral vascular lab. In addition, a Scripps cardiologist was a co-inventor of one of the first heart stents.
Intervention cardiology uses non-surgical methods to treat heart conditions. They are often catheter-based (small tubes inserted into the arteries and guided to the heart) procedures that open blocked arteries to improve blood flow to the heart. Scripps offers a full range of non-surgical, interventional cardiac care services including heart catheterization.
