DNA Study Seeking Answers for Sudden Unexplained Death

Scripps Translational Science Institute (STSI) has launched a clinical trial, the Molecular Autopsy Study. Researchers conducting the study hope that DNA sequencing can, for the first time, determine the root cause of sudden unexpected death in many families.

The launch of a Scripps Translational Science Institute study seeking the genetic causes of sudden unexplained death generated coverage by a number of media outlets including the Los Angeles Times, U-T San Diego and KPBS.

“Someday, the reason why people die suddenly will not be a mystery,” STSI director Eric Topol, MD, told the Los Angeles Times.
