Specialized Group Therapy Teaches Coping Skills, Independent Living
DDMI (Developmentally Disabled/Mental Illness) groups are designed to help patients maximize their independence while learning how to manage psychiatric symptoms.
Recognizing the different needs within this population, group therapy is visual, tactile and auditory. Behavioral health professionals formulate treatment plans with special emphasis on appropriate communication, increased impulse control, medication education and coping skills for all aspects of mental illness.
Group highlights include:
- Individualized behavior interventions
- Ongoing communication with the San Diego Regional Center, workshop programs, and family and group homes
- Emphasis on community reintegration
- A community setting characterized by warmth, care, respect and appropriate setting of limits
