Dr. Bugbee received his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and his undergraduate degree in biology at the University of California, Los Angeles, where graduated magna cum laude. Dr. Bugbee completed his internship in surgery and residency in orthopaedic surgery at UCSD Medical Center. He completed his Fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery at the Anderson Orthopaedic Research Institute in Alexandria, Virginia. Dr. Bugbee is a member of many professional societies including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and he is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Prior to joining Scripps Clinic, Dr. Bugbee was the chief of arthritis surgery and joint reconstruction and the director of the UCSD Cartilage Transplantation Program. His areas of expertise include joint reconstruction, arthritis surgery and cartilage transplantation.
