Improved custom driving safety program

An older person drives a car on a city street.

Improved custom driving safety program

CarFit® is a free, interactive and educational program designed to improve older driver safety. Your 15-minute in-person appointment with a certified CarFit® technician who will provide information ensuring the safest fit for drivers and their vehicles.

To help older drivers remain mobile, Scripps Health Trauma Injury Prevention Team and Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego will host a CarFit® event. Designed to help seniors over 55 years of age, CarFit® helps older drivers learn how the effects of aging can change the way they fit in their vehicle and how their driving can be affected.

CarFit®’s 12-point checklist on the driver and the car includes evaluating:

  • Seat-belt adjustment
  • Car pedals
  • Seat and steering wheel positioning
  • Visibility through windows and mirrors

Often adjusting these vehicle components will help senior drivers more comfortably and safely. Scripps Health and Point Loma Nazarene University both offer programs with occupational therapists specializing in driver rehabilitation who help drivers maintain and strengthen driving health.

All drivers who attend will receive a free resource bag filled with informative goodies and places to go for further evaluation.

Registration is required and spots are limited so reserve your time.
