Helping new drivers stay as safe as possible

Learning to drive can be one of the most exciting times in a young person's life. It can also be one of the most dangerous. Parents and teens can join the Scripps Health Trauma Injury Prevention team for a free 60-minute workshop that will look at the risks associated with new drivers and how to cruise through the process as safely as possible.

During this interactive session, participants will learn:

  • Risks associated with new drivers: Specific risk factors that create dangerous situations and steps that can be taken to overcome them.
  • Graduated Drivers License (GDL): Learn about the requirements and restrictions in place to keep young adults safe.
  • Safety resources: From step-by-step learning aides to parent/teen driving agreements, there are many tools that can enhance safety.

Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, get resources and share concerns with our experienced instructors. Whether you are a parent or a new driver, this class will provide valuable insights to help you keep your young adult safe on the road.

This class is hybrid and offered in-person and virtually via Microsoft Teams.
