Conference Overview

The 2025 Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla (SMHLJ) Trauma Research Symposium at will offer Scripps Health staff, health care providers, and community members a chance to explore the latest advancements in trauma research at SMHLJ. This interdisciplinary event will unite Scripps Health clinicians, researchers, and a nationally recognized keynote speaker to share insights and educate attendees about recent and ongoing research initiatives. Discussions will emphasize the clinical implications, broader applicability of findings, and future directions in trauma research. The symposium aims to enhance awareness of research efforts and foster greater engagement within the organization.

Educational Objectives

After attending this live activity, participants should be able to:

  • Summarize recent developments in trauma research at SMHLJ.
  • Identify strategies to incorporate new evidence-based strategies into clinical practice.
  • Discuss the impact of SMHLJ’s trauma research on the local community, as well as the generalizability to the region and on a national scale.

Accreditation and Maintenance of Certification (MOC)

Physicians

Scripps Health is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

 

Nurses and Nurse Practitioners

For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certified Program (AANPCP) and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) accept AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME.

NCCPA accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ from organizations accredited by the ACCME.


American Board of Anesthesiology

This activity contributes to the CME component of the American Board of Anesthesiology’s redesigned Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology™ (MOCA®) program, known as MOCA 2.0®. Please consult the ABA website, www.theABA.org, for a list of all MOCA 2.0 requirements.


American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery’s Maintenance of Certification program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABOS credit.


American Board of Surgery

Successful completion of this CME activity enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME requirement(s) of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABS credit.


MOC points will be awarded to physicians who successfully complete the requirements outlined in the post-activity evaluation. Points earned will be reported to the appropriate specialty board approximately 60 days post conference as long as all learner requirements are met. These credits will not appear on your CME certificate from Scripps.


Cultural & Linguistic Competency and Implicit Bias

This activity is designed to include curriculum addressing the topics of cultural and linguistic competency (CLC) and implicit bias (IB) in compliance with California Business and Professions (B&P) Code Section 2190. All those involved in the planning and execution of this activity have been asked to identify and discuss issues relevant to the topics being covered. In addition, a variety of resources are available that address cultural and linguistic competency and implicit bias. A resource document can be downloaded from the Conference Details section above.

Attendance and Cancellation Policies

Attendee Cancellation, Substitution and Refund

The course tuition is refundable if your cancellation is received in writing no later than Friday, August 22, 2025. Attendee substitutions are allowed, but notification must be made in writing by Friday, August 22, 2025. After this date, under no circumstances will refunds, credits, or substitutions be granted. No refunds or credits will be given to “no shows.”

 

Scripps Conference Modification or Cancellation

Scripps reserves the right to modify the course’s schedule or program as necessary. Scripps also reserves the right to cancel this conference, in which case a full refund of the registration fee will be provided.

 

Health and Safety Waiver and Assumption of Risk

By completion and submission of the online registration form, participants certify they have read and fully understand the Health and Safety Waiver and Assumption of Risk Agreement.


Family and Guest Attendance Policy

All conference activities are exclusively reserved for paid conference attendees. Children and family members are not allowed to attend meal functions or permitted in the general session room. 


Recording and Photography Clause

Scripps reserves exclusive rights to record (audio and video) and/or photograph all conference proceedings for use in marketing materials, presentations and course content sales.
