Core Orthopaedic Medical Center

One of the biggest sports medicine programs in the Scripps system is CORE Orthopaedic Medical Center’s new facility on the campus of Scripps Encinitas. The 20,000 sq. ft. complex offers a broad range of services, including MRI and other advanced diagnostics, physical therapy, operative and non-operative treatment alternatives, clinical research and patient and physician education programs.

“Working together with Scripps Encinitas, our comprehensive center can combine the equipment, techniques, and experience necessary to return professional and amateur athletes to their highest level of performance in the safest and fastest manner possible,” says Dr. Gregory Loren, a sports medicine physician at the center.

While CORE Orthopaedic remains committed to supporting traditional sports programs, the group has also worked closely with local athletes to expand their services to support the broad range of sports in North County. CORE Orthopaedic provides medical care for the National Surf League and Hansen-Machado Surf Classic, sponsors athletes, including the North County Fight Club, and supports local venues like the Encinitas Skate Park.

“The needs of snowboarders, surfers, and skateboarders, particularly at the professional level, can be very different from the needs of traditional athletes,” says Lael Gregory, the
manager of CORE’s athlete services department. “We are constantly looking for ways to meet the unique demands of each sport.”

In addition to the services offered at the new facility, CORE Orthopaedic has organized a network of other providers in the area to support the needs of athletes. Local primary care physicians, athletic trainers, sports psychologists, massage therapists, and chiropractors are just a few of the specialists working together to deliver top quality care to the Scripps Encinitas community.
