Scripps Breaks Ground on Proton Therapy Center

KFMB-TV reports on Scripps Health and collaborators breaking ground on the Scripps Proton Therapy Center, scheduled to open in spring 2013.
The center will be only the second in the U.S. to offer proton therapy, a treatment used predominantly to treat some cancers. Proton therapy is a more precise, focused way of treating cancerous and non-cancerous tumors, and typically results in minimal to no side effects.
