Quality in-home care in San Diego

Scripps Home Health Care offers quality health care in the place people are most comfortable — their home.

Our professional team of nurses, therapists and other staff provides personalized attention and cost-effective care, allowing patients to remain as independent as possible.

Home health care is for patients who require skilled intermittent care.

Additionally, we coordinate home health care with other programs at Scripps, including palliative care.

Who qualifies for Home Health care?

Who qualifies for Home Health care?

Scripps Home Health Care provides a variety of medical services for patients at home.

In order to receive home health care, patients must:

  • Require skilled intermittent care (as opposed to continuous custodial care)
  • Have a physician to order the care, and follow up throughout the home care episode
  • Be homebound (with a few exceptions), meaning that it takes a considerable and taxing effort for the patient to leave home.
  • “Home” is wherever the patient is staying (except for skilled nursing facilities).

Payment options

Most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medi-Cal, cover home health care services as long as specific eligibility conditions are met. Patients and their families may also pay privately for services not covered by insurance plans.

Because health coverage issues can be confusing, we’re available to help answer your questions or concerns.
