Wellness Program Helps Scripps Avoid Health Care Costs: KPBS-FM Segment

Employee program is popular and effective

Scripps employees can save money on health insurance — and get healthier at the same time — by enrolling in the company’s wellness program.

Vic Buzachero, senior corporate vice president of human resources, and several others from Scripps spoke to KPBS-FM about the program. They talk about the benefits of wellness, both to the organization and individuals, and share goals they have reached due to the program.

Since starting an employee wellness plan in 2006, 83 percent of Scripps’ 12,700 employees have enrolled and its success has helped the organization avoid $2.6 million in employee medical and pharmacy costs.
