Scripps Patient & Oncologist Collaborate to Battle Prostate Cancer

When former pro skater John Tassi was diagnosed with prostate cancer, he took a hard-charging approach to his treatment. He did extensive Internet research to map out his options, then collaborated with his Scripps Cancer Center physicians in an open exchange of ideas.

After surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, John’s cancer has become undetectable — something he credits both to his doctors and his own hands-on involvement. NBC 7/39 News recently profiled this patient-doctor partnership in a story that highlights Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in September.
