The Savvy Patient - Flu Hits Children Harder Than Adults

In this week’s installment of The San Diego Union-Tribune’s “Savvy Patient” column, Scripps Health provides insights into how the influenza virus affects children.


Key ways to help prevent the flu:


  • Opt for the annual vaccination for children 6 months or older
  • Limit exposure, especially for infants and young children
  • Wash hands regularly
  • Help build resistance to the virus with good nutrition, exercise and rest
