Scripps Chief Academic Officer among "Top 10 Biotech Techies"

FierceBiotech has named Scripps Health Chief Academic Officer Eric Topol, MD, among its top 10 biotech techies for 2013.


The online publication said its list includes “people who combine the best of high technology and biotechnology to solve major problems in healthcare.”


As director of the Scripps Translational Science Institute, Dr. Topol oversees major research in genomic medicine and wireless health. His widely praised book, “The Creative Destruction of Medicine: How the Digital Revolution Will Create Better Health Care,” firmly established him as a leading voice on technology and the future of medicine.


Others on the FierceBiotech list include Paul Allen, cofounder of Microsoft and the Allen Institute for Brain Science; Anne Wojcicki, chief executive officer of the genetic testing company 23andMe; and Eric Perakslis, chief information officer of the Food and Drug Administration.
