Proton Center's First Breast Cancer Patient Completes Treatment

The heartwarming story of the first breast cancer patient to complete proton therapy in San Diego was covered by Channel 6 News. Anastasia Custis Berkheimer of La Mesa celebrated her final day of treatment with a ukulele concert for family, friends and caregivers at the Scripps Proton Therapy Center. The precision of proton therapy enabled doctors to treat the tumor in Anastasia’s left breast without affecting her heart or lung.
