You might not realize it, but the smartphone in your pocket or purse is a key part of what Scripps Health cardiologist Eric Topol, MD, calls “the biggest shake-up in the history of medicine,” according to a recent article in U.S. News & World Report.
Dr. Topol, who also is Scripps’ chief academic officer and a leading digital medicine researcher, was featured along with one of his patients in the article about mobile health devices and apps that are beginning to disrupt decades-old medical practices.
“I prescribe apps more often than drugs these days,” Dr. Topol told the publication.
