Behavioral Health Expert Offers Insight on Access to Care

Jerry Gold, PhD, Administrator of the Scripps Behavioral Health and Drug and Alcohol Clinical Care Lines, recently shared his views on the demand for behavioral health services across San Diego County with the U-T San Diego. In his interview Dr. Gold indicated that the rise in patients seeking treatment was due to many factors, including too few long term treatment beds.

He shared with reporter Paul Sisson that “from our viewpoint, we need more long-term-care placements. But I think the bed capacity issue is very complex."
