Scripps Expert Explains Difference Between ER and Urgent Care on KUSI

Scripps emergency room physician discusses emergencies and non-emergencies

Emergency rooms tend to be busy year-round but not everyone needs to be there, especially if they have a non-emergency that could be treated at an urgent care clinic. Shawn Evans, MD, emergency medicine physician at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, explained on KUSI, how urgent care centers are the best option for non-emergencies when your regular doctor can’t see you right away. Dr. Evans also identified conditions that require an emergency room visit or just simply calling 911.

The original KUSI video, titled "Knowing the difference between urgent care and emergency care," is not available at this time.
