The San Diego Union-Tribune marked this year’s 50th anniversary of the creation of Medicare with a pair of articles exploring the landmark health insurance program’s history and predicting its future.
Scripps Health President and CEO Chris Van Gorder weighed in on Medicare’s past, noting that it was “among the most notable pieces of legislation ever passed.”
In a separate article, Scripps Chief Academic Officer Eric Topol, MD, predicted that Medicare will remain affordable for the country well into the future thanks in part to the emergence of personalized medicine.
