Eric Topol, MD, calls the $5.8B reduction preposterous

Scripps Health Chief Academic Officer Eric Topol, MD, was among several local researchers who reacted negatively to the Trump Administration's proposal to cut $5.8 billion in funding to the National Institutes of Health (NIH).


The NIH is the primary funding source for the Scripps Translational Science Institute, which Dr. Topol directs, and other research centers on the Torrey Pines Mesa.
