Shortage of beds at long-term facilities causing discharge delays


Patients in the inpatient behavioral health unit at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego are waiting between 75 and 120 days to get into one of the county’s long-term care facilities. According to a recent story by Voice of San Diego, patients at other hospitals are experiencing similar delays, due to a shortage of beds.
