Scripps ER Physician ‘Humbled’ By Younger COVID-19 Patients in ICU

Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla emergency medicine specialist Shawn Evans, M.D., recently told the Washington Post that he has been “humbled” by the surprising number of younger COVID-19 patients that he has seen in the hospital’s ICU beds.

Comments by Evans were featured in an article and podcast episode looking at the toll the pandemic has taken on people far younger than the elderly who have long been considered at highest risk of poor medical outcomes.
