Leonard L. Sokol, MD, is a neurologist specializing in the diagnosis, management and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's dementia, Lewy body dementia, posterior cortical atrophy, primary progressive aphasia, corticobasal syndrome and progressive supranuclear palsy.
Dr. Sokol provides person-centered care, supporting individuals and their families throughout the course of illness. With expertise in cognitive and palliative neurology, he focuses on improving quality of life through caregiver education, advance care planning, symptom management and access to clinical trials.
He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and is recognized for his research on how supportive care can enhance the quality of life for patients with neurodegenerative diseases. As a Scripps Clinic Physician Scientist Scholar Awardee (2024-2027), Dr. Sokol devotes half of his time to research and the other half to clinical care. He also serves as an assistant professor of clinical medicine in the division of neurology.
