Biography

Dr. Capetanakis believes that being present during birth is a privilege. As a doctor of osteopathic medicine, he understands that birth is a natural process and wants to work with you to ensure that you have the birthing experience you desire.

The goal of osteopathic treatment is to assist this natural process, maximizing the body’s ability to adjust and to compensate for the changes as efficiently as possible in support of mother and baby with a minimum of pain and discomfort.

Osteopathic medicine aims to treat and heal the patient as a whole, rather than focusing on one system or body part. An osteopathic physician will often use a treatment method called osteopathic manipulative treatment (also called OMT or manipulation) — a hands-on approach to make sure that the body is moving freely. This free motion ensures that all of your body’s natural healing systems are able to work unhindered.

Dr. Capetanakis specializes in unmedicated deliveries, vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) deliveries, gynecological (OB-GYN) care and minimally invasive surgery.

His philosophy is to provide his patients with the highest quality care without compromise. Although he believes that surgery should be a last resort, if needed, he is committed to offering his patients the most current and advanced minimally invasive surgical options.
