New investigational device (Reprieve system) for heart failure subjects.

Inclusion Criteria

Patients must:

  • Be diagnosed with Heart Failure.
  • Be admitted at Scripps Memorial Hospital.
  • Be 22 years of age or older.
  • Be taking daily diuretic.

Exclusion Criteria

Patients must not:

  • Have uncontrolled hypertension.
  • Have sever lung disease with chronic home oxygen requiring >2L/min.
  • Had a stroke within the past 30 days.
  • Be enrolled in another investigational trial.
  • Have life expectancy less than 6 months.
  • Be pregnant or breastfeeding.

Additional Info

The reprieve system therapy uses real time information from the minute-to-minute measurement of urine output in addition to urine sodium concentration; the system automatically identifies the diuretic dose required to meet decongestion goals.
