Inclusion Criteria

Patients must:

  • Be 18-80 years of age.
    Have a diagnosis of pouchitis that is recurrent.
    Have a history of proctocolectomy and construction of an IPAA for ulcerative colitis.
    Be willing to stop antibiotic therapy and taper corticosteroid use.

Exclusion Criteria

Patients must not:

  • Be pregnant or breast feeding.
    Have ongoing treatment with NSAID (non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug)
    Have an anastomotic or anal canal stricture which precludes endoscopic evaluation
    Have a known diagnosis of primary sclerosing cholangitis.

Additional Info

Patients will receive the investigational medication or the placebo weekly for 13 weeks. Participation in the study is expected to last approximately 6 months.
