A dozen Encinitas Girl Scouts from Troops 1359 and 1650 who are striving to earn their Silver Award — the second-highest honor that the scouts bestow — paid a heartfelt visit to Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas Sept. 22.

The girls delivered 100 pillows they crafted by hand to help comfort Scripps Encinitas patients going through cancer treatments. Each pillow included a personal note of good wishes from the Girl Scouts who made them.

The girls also delivered hats knitted by Troops 1204 and 1359 for cancer patients, newborns and others receiving care at Scripps Encinitas.
