SCAN Health Plan and Scripps Health announced today that they have entered into a co-branding agreement to explore and develop new products and services designed to serve the growing senior population. This new agreement extends the partnership between the two organizations, which began in 2007 with the launch of the SCAN Medicare Advantage plan in San Diego County.
“Scripps shares SCAN’s mission and goal of keeping seniors healthy and independent and has been a wonderful partner of SCAN’s in serving the greater San Diego community,” said Chris Wing, president and CEO of SCAN. “Scripps is one of the premier medical providers in the nation, which is why we are so excited to be working together in an effort to bring even more programs and services to seniors in need.”
Today there are almost 12,000 SCAN members in San Diego, all served by Scripps’ extensive network of physicians, hospitals, ambulatory facilities, home health, hospice and other community-based programs.
“SCAN is the only health plan in our region to have earned 4.5 Stars in the CMS Star Ratings for 2014, so they are a natural partner for us,” said Scripps President and CEO Chris Van Gorder. “We look forward to collaborating on ways to better meet our patients’ needs for comprehensive coverage and quality care.”
For more than 35 years SCAN has focused exclusively on the unique needs of seniors and others on Medicare. The result is an expertise in providing the types of services seniors want most, including a range of care management services that have a positive impact on the lives of members and their families, from follow-up post-hospitalization to the dealing with the difficulties of advanced illness.
