Shift to fee for value payment model is key, Scripps CFO says

The U-T San Diego looked at the financial performances of health systems in San Diego County, including Scripps Health, during the first half of 2014 and concluded that it’s still to early to know exactly how the new Affordable Care Act is altering their financial health.

“We’re working to avoid admissions that are unnecessary,” Scripps Chief Financial Officer Richard Rothberger told the newspaper. “The larger issue here is organizations making this pivot from fee for service to fee for value.”
