Scripps Health has been named among the nation’s 100 Best Workplaces for Women by Fortune magazine and Great Place to Work. The inaugural rankings were based on a survey of more than 135,600 female employees at more than 600 companies across the nation.

“We are honored to be recognized as one of the 100 Best Workplaces for Women,” said Chris Van Gorder, Scripps president and CEO. “Scripps places great importance on creating an excellent work environment that supports all our employees.”

Female employees at 637 companies responded to the Great Place to Work survey. They were asked everything from their views on the fairness of their company’s promotions to access to information and leadership, support for employees’ personal lives, and the inclusiveness and connection they feel with colleagues. Scripps ranked No. 96 on the list.

Ranking based on representation at all levels

Scores also took into account how well represented women are in a company, and in management and executive positions.

Scripps was honored for having a workforce where women make up 76 percent of the employees and hold 75 percent of management positions and 61 percent of executive positions.

“We are proud of the policies and programs that we have established that encourage women’s advancement,” said Victor Buzachero, Scripps Health corporate vice president of innovation, human resources and performance management. “The representation of women at the highest level of leadership at Scripps demonstrates our commitment to that advancement,” he said.

Honor is latest in string of national accolades

The honor is the latest in a recent string of workforce accolades for Scripps Health and its support of its female employees. Last week, Scripps was named to the 2015 Working Mother 100 Best Companies list by the national magazine. In March, Scripps was named one of the Top 10 Nonprofit Companies for Executive Women by the National Association of Female Executives.

The 100 Best Workplaces for Women ranking is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work and Fortune based upon employee survey feedback from published Great Place to Work Reviews.

Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work United States, said the companies in the 100 Best Workplaces for Women list are leaders who recognize the strategic importance of creating workplaces that attract and support the best talent in their industries.

“Ranking on this list is a great indicator that these companies’ efforts to create workplaces are resonating throughout their teams,” Bush said.
