Recent studies have shown a strong link between sleep disorders and various forms of heart disease, according to a recent article in Cardiology Today. But methods for integrating the treatment of sleep apnea with heart care is less clear.
Scripps Clinic cardiologist Ajay Srivastava, MD, was among several leading heart specialists who weighed in on the topic. “The biggest problem we have that limits people being treated for (obstructive sleep apnea) is underdiagnosis,” he said.
