First colonoscopy revealed cancer, led to successful treatment

March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month and Bobby Day recently shared his personal experience with the disease with 10 News. Day was diagnosed with early-stage colorectal cancer through a screening colonoscopy last year and the cancer was removed during the procedure by Julio Gutierrez, MD. Day is now fully recovered with no evidence of disease. As part of the 10 News story, Walter Coyle, MD, shared insights into risk factors, screening guidelines and testing options. Dr. Gutierrez and Dr. Coyle are with Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center and Scripps Clinic.
