In the News: Spotlight on National Diabetes Month

November is National Diabetes Month and Athena Philis-Tsimikas, MD, shared insights with the KPBS-TV “Evening Edition.” Dr. Philis-Tsimikas discussed rising rates of diabetes, which have increased by 32% in California in the past decade. She emphasized the importance of early interventions and new technology to diagnose and treat the disease. Dr. Philis-Tsimikas is a specialist in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism and serves as corporate vice president of the Scripps Whittier Diabetes Institute.
