Scripps Health, Anthem Blue Cross Reach Agreement

Scripps Health today announced it has reached a new multi-year contract agreement with Anthem Blue Cross, allowing PPO and EPO patients covered by the insurer to continue accessing care at Scripps hospitals, clinics, physician offices and other care sites on an in-network basis.

“Our mission has always been centered on caring for our patients and the communities we serve," said Chris Van Gorder, president and CEO of Scripps Health. "We are pleased to have reached an agreement that allows most patients with Anthem Blue Cross insurance to continue receiving care from the physicians, nurses and caregivers they know and trust at Scripps. We understand that this process created uncertainty and concern for many patients and families. We are deeply grateful for their patience, understanding and continued confidence in Scripps.”

Patients with Anthem PPO and EPO health insurance can continue to access Scripps hospitals and doctors in-network, subject to the terms of their Anthem benefit plan. Anthem has already reassigned patients with Anthem HMO plans to providers outside of the Scripps network and Scripps physicians will no longer participate in the Anthem Blue Cross HMO network.
