Module 4: The Battle of Nutrient Forms: Do I Need the Activated Form?

Overview

This module will amplify the previous module with specific a discussion of nutrient forms and research for each, including 5MTHF, P5P, R5P, Vitamin E forms, CoQ10/Ubiquinol, forms of B12.

Educational Objectives

After completing this enduring material, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss the definition of an “activated” nutrient and how this might affect its efficacy compared to other forms.
  • Summarize the following forms: riboflavin-5-phosphate (R5P), pyridoxal-5-phosphate (PLP or P5P), 5-methytetrahydrofolate (5-, MTHF), nutrigenetic implications, methyl-cobalamin (Methyl-B12), various niacin/nicotinamide derivatives, ubiquinone, and krill phospholipids vs fish triglycerides.
