Located near the corner of Church Avenue and Davidson Street, just south of E Street, Scripps Well Being Center provides a variety of health and wellness services to San Diego’s South Bay communities. More than 11,000 community members and patients are supported yearly.

Scripps Well Being Center offers a comprehensive program (PDF, 270 KB) designed to assist a wide range of patients transitioning from inpatient care to home. The program addresses social determinants of health, such as transportation, housing and food insecurity, and provides holistic support for medical and non-medical needs that affect patient outcomes.
By improving access to primary and specialty care, facilitating navigation through the complexities of the health care system and connecting patients with essential services, the program supports patients to manage their health post-discharge. It reduces the risk of readmissions and improves continuity of care, creating a more integrated and personalized support system.

Mental Health, Loneliness and Social Connections - Learn how isolation impacts mood, sleep and physical health — and practical ways to build connection. We’ll cover stress signs, coping skills and simple, local strategies to strengthen support networks for families and seniors. Language: English
Medication Safety and Polypharmacy - Make medicines easier, not harder. We’ll practice how to read labels, keep one simple medication list, set reminders that actually work, and bring questions to appointments with confidence. Learn everyday tips to avoid mix-ups (pill look-alikes, double doses), how to use a pillbox, and when to call your pharmacy. Language: Spanish
Breast Cancer Awareness and Education - Educate participants with knowledge and practical tools to navigate breast cancer prevention and awareness. Language: English and Spanish

Breast Cancer - Ongoing support is offered to patients diagnosed with breast cancer both individually and as a group. In addition, wigs, bras and other supplies are provided as needed. Language: Spanish
Stroke and Brain Injury - Support is offered to celebrate successes, discuss challenges, share solutions and connect with others who have had a stroke and or brain injury. Group is for survivor and caretakers. Language: English and Spanish
Breastfeeding and Lactation - Bring your baby and join other mothers for an informal discussion about breastfeeding, tips on how to do successfully, get the support you need and all your questions answered by a lactation specialist. Heart Health (Blood Pressure and Cholesterol) - Understand your numbers and what they mean. We’ll practice easy ways to lower blood pressure and improve cholesterol with everyday habits — smart food swaps (less sodium/added sugar, more fiber), label-reading, simple movement you can do at home, stress basics, and building a weekly routine that sticks. We'll also cover how to check BP at home, what to write down, and questions to bring to your next visit. Take-home: a one-page “Know Your Numbers” guide. Language: English and Spanish

About Scripps Well Being Center
Scripps Well Being Center - Scripps Mercy Hospital, Chula Vista offers a wide-variety of programs for the local South Bay community by providing prevention and wellness programs for patients and community members. The center provides numerous health promotion, disease prevention, community educational programs and works to support patients post discharge. Many of the programs are focused for older adults, youth, parents and patients with chronic disease.
As part of the San Diego Border Area Health Education Program, the center works with K-12 schools, undergraduate and masters-level programs to increase the diversity of future health professions workforce through career education, mentorship, summer camps, internships and other exploratory programs.
