Scripps CEO Nominated for "Most Influential People in Healthcare" List

Voting open through June 14 on Modern Healthcare website

About Executive Team Chris Van Gorder 200×250

In a nod to Scripps Health’s leadership role in the health care industry, President and CEO Chris Van Gorder has been nominated for a national listing of the most influential people in health care, which recognizes his role as an innovator in a fast-changing environment.

It’s familiar territory for Van Gorder, who has regularly appeared in previous versions of the prestigious ranking by Modern Healthcare magazine.

His initiatives have reduced costs while boosting the quality of patient care, making Scripps Health an industry model and placing the San Diego-based health system among the top five large health care providers in the nation as recognized by Truven Health Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters).

Anyone can participate in the Modern Healthcare voting. Balloting is open through June 14.

Also making this year’s ballot was Scripps Health Chief Academic Officer Eric Topol, MD, who previously appeared in the listing.

Dr. Topol is an internationally recognized cardiologist, geneticist, researcher and digital health pioneer who is leading a technological revolution that promises to transform the delivery of health care services, lower the cost of medicine and personalize the treatment of illness.

The 300 nominees were selected from more than 28,000 submissions, Modern Healthcare editors said. Online voting and magazine editors will determine the winners, who will be announced in the Aug. 26 edition of the publication.
