Scripps Celebrates the ‘Dog Days of Summer’ with Party for its Four-legged Volunteers

Scripps Health honored its four-legged friend volunteers at a summer “Hot Diggity Dog” party on July 25, 2014.

Scripps Health honored its four-legged friends at a summer “Hot Diggity Dog” party on July 25. The event was to recognize the exceptional work provided by this select group of therapy dogs from across the Scripps Health system who provide for the well-being of the patients as well as the staff.

This summer’s get-together was an opportunity for the therapy dogs and their handlers to get to know each other and be rewarded for all of their hard work. Throughout the year, more than 60 certified therapy dogs have provided comfort and companionship by visiting patients across the Scripps system. These visits have helped increase emotional well-being, promoted healing, and improved the quality of life for the patients and staff.
